How to install your green wall, moss panels or Moss Plus product
Moss wall installation – step-by-step instructions
As you know, at Sygns you can order trendy green walls and moss panels, as well as our exclusive Moss Plus products (neon or letters pre-mounted on moss plates). Our products are designed for easy and uncomplicated installation, but you still have to know how. So that’s what we’re going to show you now!
In the following, we’ll provide you with step-by-step guides for hanging Moss Plus products and moss panels or moss wall art. The latter guide can be applied to moss logos and letters or to entire green walls as well.
Additionally, we'll share some do's & don'ts on how to best maintain the beauty of your preserved plant products so you'll be able to enjoy them for a long time.
A few remarks up front...
The moss plates can’t be fixed to a brittle or wet surface. The surface on which the panels are installed should be stable and smooth, so that each panel can align perfectly with the wall; as well as clean, meaning free of dirt, dust, or grease.
If the wall you’re planning to mount your moss product on is uneven or unstable, we recommend reinforcement with vertical OSB panels. The thickness of these panels should be evaluated each time based on the product weight.
Please carry out the installation step by step in accordance with the described instructions so as to be able to fully enjoy your beautiful Sygns moss panel, green wall, or Moss Plus product.
Tools required:
- drill
- drill bit

Installation of moss panels – step-by-step guide
1. Assembly scheme
If your design consists of several moss plates in a package, there will be an assembly scheme attached. This will tell you in what order and arrangement to mount the plates.
Prior to the assembly, make sure that the number of moss panels in the package is the same as on the assembly scheme.
The numbers referenced therein can be found on the back of each moss panel.
2. Surface preparations
Level the first panel and mark the edge of the panel on the wall.
3. Moss panel preparation
While being careful of the moss, drill through the panel, thus leaving mounting points on the wall.
4. Wall preparation for dowels
Drill holes in the wall and install the appropriate mounting dowels. Screw the panel to the wall.
5. Install moss panels side by side
Align the next panel with the one already installed and repeat the installation steps. Make sure that the order and arrangement corresponds to the assembly scheme. That’s it!
Installation of Moss Plus (moss with neon or letters mounted on top) – step-by-step guide
1. Assembly scheme
If your design consists of several moss plates in a package, there will be an assembly scheme attached. This will tell you in what order and arrangement to mount the plates.
Prior to the assembly, make sure that the number of moss panels in the package is the same as on the assembly scheme.

2. Surface preparation
Position the product on the wall. Mark the location of the panels using our template guide provided in your order.
3. Wall preparation for dowels
Attach the template to the wall and drill holes in the marked areas. Insert the appropriate wall dowels (depending on the wall type). Screw in the screw, but leave it sticking out of the wall sufficiently for hanging.
4. Install moss on the wall
Hang the moss panel on the wall and plug in the electrical cord to check if the lights are working.
5. Connecting to existing electrical outlet (for non-”plug & play” products only)
Warning: The installation should only be undertaken by qualified personnel. These steps are to be followed once the electrical connection is already prepared.
Take the power cord cable out of the junction box on the back of the plate. Connect the power cable from the existing electrical outlet to the electrical junction box. Hang the moss on the wall and check if the lights are working properly.
How to take care of your moss and plant products – do’s & don’ts
Now that you have successfully installed your green wall, moss panel, or Moss Plus with neon or letters, here are some recommendations on how to best take care of your preserved plant products. Maintenance is key when it comes to natural products!
Our moss products should only be used for the intended purpose in accordance with the below-mentioned points. They are best kept in an enclosed room or space that is dry and protected against harmful atmospheric conditions (weather!).
Please be aware that at this time, all Sygns moss & plant products are only suitable for indoors. Moss products for outdoor use require additional impregnation – when in doubt, ask our team about possible options for your business!
Humidity
Humidity levels in the room for moss should be maintained from 35 to 65%. This applies to most moss types and lichens, which may get dry and soften again without harm to the product. The exception are jungle plants (made of tropical leaves and ferns), for which the humidity levels in the room should not exceed 65%. A drop in humidity below 35% is acceptable and not harmful.
Heat
It is not recommended to install panels closer than 1 m from active heat sources, such as heaters or stoves, as this might dry out the mosses and plants.
Scent
Real, preserved moss has a woody-earthy scent. Freshly unboxed moss can release a natural scent for the first 1-2 weeks after installation. After this period, the smell will fade.
Don’t…
- Spray or mist directly with water. If the air humidity drops below 35%, the moss can be treated with an air humidifier.
- Cut or trim the product. It won’t grow back!
- Tear or pull out parts of the moss.
- Put the moss in your mouth or eat it.
- Put the moss in direct contact with heat sources or open fire. This includes heaters, stoves, fireplaces, radiators, or candles.
- Expose the moss to chemical substances or cleaning agents (even mild ones), or any liquids at all.
- Dye the moss and plants on your own.
- Expose the products to very intense, permanent sunlight or artificial lighting.
If you follow these guidelines, you can enjoy your unique Sygns moss or plant product for a long time.
