Wall-mounted lightbox or tabletop lightbox? Installation tips & step-by-step guides
Lightbox installation – step-by-step instructions
Lightboxes tend to be slightly underrated in the advertising technology world, compared to their more flashy signage siblings like neon or letters.
Yet they’re everywhere: if you walk around any city centre, you will notice that almost every shop, café or restaurant has some kind of lightbox hanging outside.
The most common ones are large, front-facing displays above storefronts and double-sided, projecting signs that are mounted at 90° from the facade.
Lightboxes with LED-based lighting are practical, yet surprisingly sophisticated – and luckily not very difficult to install either!
After our installation guides for neon signs, non-lit and acrylic signs and moss walls and panels, our newest manual instructs you in the mounting of both front-facing and projecting lightboxes. In this article you will find step-by-step guides for the three most common lightbox types, as well as additional tips and tricks.

Wall-mounted lightbox without drilling?
You want a hanging lightbox, but are for some reason unable to drill holes in your walls? Even though we’re often asked about similar situations, this is a difficult question to answer, as the solution depends heavily on specific circumstances.
Fact is: Lightboxes are designed for versatile use, they are comparatively robust and light-weight in relation to their size – all this is what we mean by “practical” in the introduction of this article above.
Our front-facing (meaning one-sided) lightboxes for indoor use (meaning “plug & play”/not requiring electrical wiring) come with keyholes on the back for easy mounting. You can basically hang the LED box on the wall like a picture. Maybe you have some pre-existing hooks that you can hang your box on? Or you want to attach some kind of rope or cord to suspend it from the ceiling?
Please be aware that these are just suggestions and are not compliant with the recommended use of the product as described above.
If you require a customised hanging system of any kind, it’s best to mention this to our sales team during the quoting process. We’ll be happy to find an individual solution for you!
Maybe the ideal product for your purposes is the one we’re going to talk about in the next paragraph…
Standing and tabletop lightboxes
Another practical aspect of (front-facing) lightboxes is that they’re easy to transport and able to stand freely on their own – provided they’re square- or rectangle-shaped and of relatively small size, of course. With a lightbox, it’s usually possible to faithfully render a logo or design even at a small scale, so if your specific circumstances don’t allow for drilling holes (or you want a flexible logo that you can use in different contexts), then maybe a compact tabletop lightbox is the right thing for you!
You can put your standing lightbox on a shelf or on your desk to display your company logo, or leave it on a windowsill facing outside – all without drilling, screwing or hanging!
You won’t need any accessories either, as our lightboxes are equipped with a cable and plug. The power supply unit (transformer) is invisible inside the box.
